White Cliffs Country (coast countryside and medieval Sandwich) – From Dover
Meeting at your hotel, Dover Priory Station, or Dover Cruise Terminal, this exclusive private tour takes you on a peep behind the scenes. I grew up in Dover and have a few secrets up my sleeve and some hidden gems to share, which our small, chauffeur driven car or minivan can access, away from the madding crowds! – View points of Dover Castle and the White Cliffs, and, on a clear day across to France. Over 3000 years of history can be traced in a single view ! Photo opportunities of Dover’s Castle, and the cliff road to delightful bays and villages set on the coast. More castles with photo stops as we pass King Henry VIII’s Coastal castles and make our way across the ever-changing countryside to the medieval town, and former important port, of Sandwich. Today, picturesque, quaint, peaceful and full of charm and character. A delight to stroll around, and maybe enjoy a sandwich in one of its many choices of pubs, cafes and restaurants. Your tour then takes you across open Kentish countryside (and you can appreciate why Kent is known as ‘The Garden of England) – farms, villages, orchards and back down to the coast, west of Dover and back to our starting point. The tour could be a half-day or, with longer stops and perhaps a visit or two, or lunch or a cream tea – this makes a perfect full-day tour from Dover.
A Taste of Kent.
My Canterbury Tale – From Dover
Meeting at Dover Cruise Terminal, this private guided tour takes us first through picturesque countryside on our way to visit the beautiful Cathedral City of Canterbury.
On arrival in the city, we explore together the rich heritage of the city – strolling, with as many stops or as gently as you like, we can trace the city’s history from Roman times right the way through to the vibrant city of the 21st Century. The city is small but has a wealth of back streets, and hidden gardens, and there is a juxtaposition of the old with the new at every turn right through to its medieval heart and Canterbury Cathedral itself (The Mother Church of the Anglican Communion) Here we go into the Cathedral and begin our private guided tour of the Precincts and inside the Cathedral. As a Cathedral accredited guide, I am permitted to guide your tour, but, please note that this is strictly subject to availability and pre-booking is essential. An additional admission/tour fee is incurred and would be payable directly to Canterbury Cathedral on the day. As the Cathedral is, of course, a place of worship, there is restricted access from time to time, and interior guided tours are not accepted on a Sunday. It is very important to check the possibilities before booking. After our visit to the Cathedral, we surely follow in the footsteps of some medieval Pilgrims as we wend our way back to Dover.
